Coop Eden Cool+ Review: The Pillow That Finally Fixed My Neck Pain
Most "cooling" pillows are a gimmick. This one is heavy, expensive, and actually works.
I spent years waking up with a stiff neck. I tried down, solid memory foam, and those cheap "cooling" pillows that feel like a sauna after 10 minutes. The Coop Eden Cool+ is the first one that actually stuck.
The challenge of finding the right loft
Finding a pillow is usually a gamble. Memory foam blocks are often too high or too hard, and down pillows go flat in weeks. As a side sleeper, I need a very specific height to keep my spine straight. If it's off by even an inch, I feel it the next morning.
Customization and fill quality
The Coop Eden Cool+ comes overstuffed with a blend of shredded memory foam and microfiber, but includes a separate bag of extra fill. I spent 10 minutes removing about 20% of the foam until the height was perfect. It's a manual process, but it means the pillow is custom-built for my body.
Thermal performance
The "Cool+" version has an outer cover that feels physically cold to the touch—like a marble countertop. It doesn't stay ice-cold all night, but it dissipates heat significantly better than cotton. I rarely find myself flipping the pillow anymore.
✅ The Good
- You control the exact height and firmness by adding or removing fill.
- The cover feels physically cold and sheds body heat effectively.
- The outer cover zips off easily for machine washing.
- Unlike cheap foam, there is almost no chemical "off-gassing" smell.
- Includes a 100-night trial so there's low risk if it's not for you.
❌ The Bad
- Adjusting the shredded foam is a messy, chaotic process.
- This is a dense, heavy pillow that isn't easy to toss around.
- Paying over $100 for a pillow feels steep, even if it helps your neck.
Should You Buy It?
If you are a hot sleeper or a side sleeper who struggles with neck pain, absolutely. The ability to dial in the height is a major upgrade for spinal alignment.
If you sleep on your stomach, this is probably too lofty and heavy for you, even with fill removed. You'd be better off with a thinner, lighter down alternative pillow.
